Beech House Stud Show 21-22 July 2007

Day 1 Saturday

The team travelled to South View Competition Centre once again for the Beech House Stud show which had been moved from its home ground to the centre due to the ground conditions at the Stud.

Vyking and Up the Date jumped in the Newcomer Class both producing impressive double clears over a testing course, this being the first time they had gone straight in at Newcomers without a smaller class first. Both of these horses are showing great talent for the future.

Carisma Z returned to competition after a short break due to Lee's other commitments and jumped a lovely doule clear to eventually finish the class in second place.

Day 2 Sunday

Two of the youngest members of the team Serena, who has had a short break due to a minor injury problem and Centura Z both jumped in the British Novice Class jumping double clear in great style.

Vyking and Up the Date again jumped in the Newcomer/1.10m open class over an extremely tough track more suited to the open horses. Vyking finishing with four faults in the first phase whilst Up the Date was clear until the final fence a very tricky gate oxer with light front rail that clocked up faults with all but a few of the competitors. All in all another good weekend with the novice horses. Our thanks go to Geoff , Derek and their team for all their hardwork in the organisation of the show.

Scope Promotions Show @ South View Competition Centre 13-15 July. 2007

Day 1 Friday A great turnout for the first day of the show dispite the large amounts of "liquid sunshine" pouring down from the sky. Jumping was still at a high standard and Linaro 18 and Little Emir produced great performances. In the 1.30m open both horses jumped into the second phase with Litle Emir producing a double clear and Linaro having four faults in the jump off section.Last class of the day was the 1.40 open which was jumped in conditions more suited to a monsoon. Little Emir jumped double clear in a fast time taking the lead in the early stages and kept that lead until the last competitor "stable mate" Linaro 18 who went round in a "storming time" to take over 2 seconds off the leading time. A first and second for Lee, well worth getting wet for.

Day 2  Saturday It was decided after jumping 2 classes yeasterday to just jump the 1.40 class with the horses today. Linaro 18 had an unlucky 4 faults just making up too much ground after the big triple bar to the following upright. Little Emir produced a lovely clear round and set of from second draw in the jump off to produce a brilliant round right to the last fence when Lee cut in on a tight angle Little Emir had other ideas however and decided it was more fun to run out round the wing " Never mind it cant work every time i don't want to be greedy" laughed Lee.

Day 3 Sunday Back to monsoon conditions today but that did not stop a large turnout for the classes and also good spectator support.

Linaro 18 and Little Emir both jumped the last class the 1.40m Grand Prix. Clears were difficult to come by partly due to the weather although it is fair to say the Charles Britton Arena showed no signs of giving in to the weather. Both horses had four faults in the competition but the team were pleased with the way they had performed all weekend and were happy enough to give the jump off a miss on this occasion as everyone had a look of drowned rats by now!

Arena UK  22-24th June

After a few days at home the team travelled to Arena UK in Lincolnshire.  this is another centre where many improvements have been made in recent months and now boasts impressive facilites for horse and rider alike.

Day 1 Friday Carisma Z, Up the Date, Vyking and Seannie all jumped the 1.05m open class, with Carisma Z, Seannie and Up the Date finishing in 6th, 7th and 8th respectively.  Linaro 18 jumped the 1.30m open finishing in 6th position with 4 faults in the fastest jump off time. In the 1.40m class Little Emir had faults in the first round but Linaro 18 again produced the goods winning the class with an impressive double clear.

Day 2 Saturday Carisma Z and Seannie again jumped double clear in th 1.05m open gaining placings again whilst Up the Date and Vyking just had 4 faults each in the same class. In the 1.30m open Little Emir returned with 8 faults,a trait he can have after jumping bigger classes not to respect the smaller fences. However he did redeem himself in the Accumilator class finishing in 3rd place with Linaro 18 in 7th place both easily clearing the 1.55m

joker fence.

Day 3 Sunday A marathon day with 115 entries in the Newcomer Second Round.   Carisma Z and Seannie both jumped the 1.20m speed class, the first class of the day.  Seannie jumping a nice doulbe clear and Carisma Z returning with 8 faults.

It was the the long wait for the final class of the day the 1.40m open. As the day went however, it was decided that the 1.30 and 1.40 class should be combined as the light was going to be a problem.  Again both Linaro 18  and Little Emir jumped in fine form to finish in 6th and 7th place.

Wales and West Showground  14-17th June

A couple of local shows with the younger horses after South View then it was back to Wales and West Showground.

Day 1 Thursday

Toran and Up the Date both jumped in the 1.05m class, this was one of Toran's first shows he jumped clear but with 4 faults in the jump off. Up the Date showed his ability once again and jumped double clear finishing in 7th position.

Emily 46 was partnered by Charlotte Platt for the very first time, jumping double clear in the 1.20m open and then finishing 6th in the Foxhunter Second Round.

Linaro 18 and Little Emir both jumped the 1.40m Grand Prix and once again proved that they are both back on form Linaro finshing in 6th place whilst Little Emir jumped an amazing class to take the winners rossette (and prize money!).

Day 2 Friday

After a night of heavy rain it was decided not to jump the younger horses in the grass arenas and to just concentrate on the 1.35m Grand Prix with Linaro and Little Emir.  Both horses jumped exceptionally well but it was Linaro who was feeling left out yesterday that produced the round of the competition finshing with his winners rosette today. Oh dear we shall have to celabrate again!!!.

Day 3 Saturday

After more heavy rain the organisers decided to split the Petplan Arena to form two rings in order for the classes to go ahead.  Lee decided to give Emily 46 a "school" round the 1.20m open class where she jumped an excellent double clear. The 1.30m grand prix was the class for Little Emir and Linaro 18. Little Emir finished with 4 faults whilst Linaro went clear and into the jump off.  From a bad draw of 2nd out of 26 clears Linaro set off again on the most economical route and it was just a turn back to a double that caught him out and he finished with 4 faults but in an amazing time proving to be the fastest in the class. This display pushed other riders to try to improve this and Linaro ended a creditable 8th place even with a fence down.

South View 23-25 May 2007

A wonderful 3 day show hosted by Charles Brittain and his family, the first "premier" type show held on the new outdoor arena. The show was attended by riders from the length and bredth of the country with fantastic jumping from early morning till dusk each day.

Day 1 Wednesday

Little Emir and Linaro both start the show in good form with clears in the 1.30m class. Emir went on to have 4 faults in the jump off and Linaro produced another clear in the marathon class which had 105 starters. Both went on to have four faults in the 1.40m class.

Day 2 Thursday

The 1.40m class was an A4 speed class with a good entry and a very stiff track. Both Little Emir and Linaro jumped on top form, producing clear rounds with Linaro leaving nothing to chance making every turn and using his speed between fences to finsh the winner of a very competitive class.

Day 3 Friday

The 1.40m Grand Prix again produced marathon entries with a standard again as high as any national final. Linaro has an unusual 8 faults but Little Emir jumped double clear and finished in the placings.

3rd and Last Foal of 2007 is Born
Monday 14th May at 10pm since the arrival of ‘Joey’ from a Young 4 yr old Mare named ‘Wrandessa’ (London Times x Grannus). ‘Joey’ a lovely colt by the young dutch stallion ‘Thunderbolt’ a son of ‘Nassau’.

Hand Equestrian Centre 12-13 May 2007
A few more days at home then it was back down the country to Hand Equestrian Centre where the brilliant new outdoor arena was to have its first major competition, however the weather had other ideas and the first day competition was brought indoors. Up the Date and Vyking both produced double clear rounds in the British Novice and Discovery competitions. Carisma Z seemed to be returning to form with a lovely clear round in the 1.15m open just lowering the last fence in the jump off.
Linaro 18 and Little Emir both jumped clear in the 1.30m with Linaro having an unlucky four faults in the jump off leaving Little Emir to produce an excellent double clear and finish in third place.

Emily 46 resumed her partnership with Emily Davies and also jumped double clear in the 1.30m.

Day two and the weather was still as bad, however after consulting with the riders the previous day it was decided to jump the second day outdoors as the collecting arena and practice fences were indoors so the horses and riders were only outside for a couple of minutes.

Carisma Z did not mind the rain and produced a good double clear to finish in third place in the 1.15m open.

Emily 46 jumped clear in the 1.30m but a little slow and picked up 2 time faults.
The 1.40m proved to be hotly contested over an up to height track. Little Emir picked up faults in the first round but Linaro 18 jumped clear to join only two others in the jump off. Lee set off on Linaro with his usual economical route and fast pace to leave him well up on the clock to the last fence which he unfortunately tapped giving four faults. "It was worth a try" said Lee who settled for third place.

A good weekend overall despite the weather. The team would like to thank the owners Nick and Helen Davies for their kind hospitality once again.

Our 2nd Foal of 2007 is Born
At 12.10am on Thursday 10th May 2007 ‘Shakira’ (Gold Ferdl x Rebel Z III x Gotthard) gave birth to a filly foal named ‘Ruby’ by Sunny Boy (Sandro Hit x Donnerhall).

Area 18 Show Somerford Park 6-7 May 2007
After returning home the previous day the team then travelled to the local Cheshire Area Show being held on the all weather surface at Somerford Park. The first day was a chance to get the novice horses to a different venue once again. Up the Date and Vyking both showing much improvement and more mature attitude both gave good performances in the discovery competition with Serena gong well if a little rusty as she had not jumped in competition since Gadlas Farm.

The second day proved to be a marathon as entries surpassed the expectations of the organisers. Up the Date and Vyking both returned to put in good double clears in a tough 1.05m open class where faults seemed to be clocking up quite easily.
Carisma Z popped round the 1.05m for clear and four faults but seemed to be a little out of sorts in the 1.20m clocking up an unusual 12 faults.
Emily 46 jumped a nice double clear around the 1.20m, this was to be used as a schooling round as she has been jumping some large tracks of late and it does no harm to give the horses a nice easy round as a sweetener.

Aldershot Horse Show 5-7 May 2007
Following on from the show at Wales & West, the team had a couple of days at home before travelling to Tweseldown Racecourse. This is the new home of Aldershot Horse Show which combines usual showjumping classes with the forces showjumping championships.

First class of the day was the 1.30m class in the main ring and although the organisers had worked extremely hard to try to produce a good jumping surface, the lack of rain had proved too much and after jumping Linaro 18 and retiring Little Emir it was decided that the going was not suitable our horses and a decision was made not to continue and to return home.

Our 1st 2007 Foal is Born
At 3.10am Thursday 26th April `Star` (Quickstar x Voltaire) one of our broodmares gave birth to a lovely filly named `Katie` by the stallion Calvaro Z (Successfully ridden by Jos Lansink, Michael and John Whitaker).

Gadlas Farm 14th April
This was the first outdoor show for some of the young horses in the team, Serena, Vyking and Up the Date.

Serena jumped a really nice double clear in the Scope 1m Novice Championship Qualifier. Vyking and Up the Date both jumped clear and then had four faults in the jump off in the same class.
Up the Date improved and jumped a good double clear in the Scope 1.05m Adventurer Championship Qualifier.
Carisma Z jumped clear in the 1.20 open having four faults in the jump off.
Emily 46 and Emily Davies jumped double clear in the 1.20 open.

South View Easter Championship Show 6-8th April.
Our first outdoor show of the year on the suberb new Charles Britton All Weather Arena with wonderful weather a complete bonus so early in the year.

Day 1
Udonna jumped double clear in the Newcomer Class.
Carisma Z jumped double clear in the 1.20 open finishing in 4th place behind some real speed merchants.
Little Emir jumped double clear in the 1.20 open continuing his improvement back to his normal level of competition.
Linaro18 jumped clear in the 1.35m open, then had an unlucky four faults in the jump off.
Emily 46 was again ridden by Emily Davies, who is currently on a residential intensive training course with Lee. She jumped double clear in the 1.25m open and just had the last fence down in the 1.35m, she jumped really well and this was her biggest test to date.

Day 2
Udonna jumped clear in the Foxhunter class, just having four faults in the jump off.
Carisma Z had four faults in the 1.25 open. Emily 46 had the same score in the 1.30 open.
Little Emir jumped double clear in the 1.25 open and had an unlucky four faults in the 1.30 open.
Linaro 18 jumped double clear in the 1.30 open and collected first prize. It certainly looks like he is getting back to his old form.

Day 3
Little Emir again jumped double clear in the 1.30 open. Lee is really pleased with the way he has returned to competition as this was just his second show back.
Linaro 18 again excelled himself to finish 3rd in the 1.45m Grand Prix. He jumped double clear and finished just behind John Whittaker and Geoff Luckett.

Hand Equestrian Centre 23-25 March
Following on from Unex Towerlands the team then travelled to the newly refurbished Hand Equestrian Centre in Clevedon near Bristol.

Linaro 18 had an unlucky show, just having four faults each day. Lee was however pleased with his performance as Linaro is only just returning to higher level competition.
It was also good to see Little Emir return to the team after having a break for over 12 months. As this was his first show back he jumped the smaller tracks and jumped double clear every day so fingers crossed he will soon be back to his old self and jumping the bigger tracks again.
Carisma Z, a valuble member of the team had a fantastic show winning two out of three classes she entered.
Emily 46 was ridden by Emily Davies for the first time and jumped double clear in every class.

Unex Towerlands Senior Premier Show 16-18th March
This was the first big show of the year for Lee and his team. The show was used as preparation for the forthcoming season.
Linaro 18 jumped some really good rounds over the biggest tracks he had seen for a while.
Udonna, Emily 46 and Carisma Z all held their own in classes in which they are inexperienced at the moment.
